New Zealand Persimmons

New Zealand Persimmons

Persimmons are known for their sweet, honey-like flavor. New Zealand persimmons are of the Fuyu variety, which are non-astringent and can be eaten, firm and crisp, while barely ripe. Depending on ripeness, these persimmons range in colour from glossy light yellow-orange to dark red-orange.

Persimmons can be eaten fresh, dried or cooked and are commonly used around the world in jellies, drinks, pies, curries and puddings.
